They are, there's doctors here, and Iris is...acting weird, but not aggressive. She got a much bigger bite out of the guy than I did, that might be messing with her.

She's with Hark, I'll keep a closer eye on her. But if something was going to happen, I bet it would've already.

Hey, Shaw? Problem. Hannibal was here. Part of the flood. He made Malcolm breakfast.

[ There's a lot of disgust in that simple sentence. ]

Did it have anybody in it? Is Bright okay?

[ Not a correction so much as a reframing. 'Friend' is not strong enough, not nearly. Will pauses for a bit, thinking it over. ]

He'll have Laura here. And he'll be back in the cabin as soon as possible. Give me a couple of hours? And I can have Malcolm watch for dangerous behavior. He's not injured.

No. And yes. I- I think. He thought it was a hallucination at first, so nothing got...dangerous.

Do you know how this flood works? They're usually a week, right? Why am I back already?

Control occupies the cabin like she belongs there, so Shaw will find her in the kitchen boiling water for tea. At least Root, for whom she knows she's here, has good taste in tea. You get used to a certain quality after a while.

Very shortly after her arrival, she'll hear the shower water turn on. Five minutes later, it turns off, and five minutes after that, a damp Shaw dressed only in a towel comes into the room - and stops dead when she sees who's standing by her kitchen counter.

Shaw doesn't look embarrassed. She does look annoyed.

"Ma'am," she says, her tone dry and icy enough that the word could easily be a euphemism for something far less polite.

[That would certainly be nice. But--]

During the flood when I was a kid, I went back to being an adult a couple times, but never for too long. We should take advantage of this to plan in case it doesn't last.

That's about what she expects from Shaw these days.

Without turning around, Control says, "There's enough hot water for a few cups for both of us, but I don't recall you being the biggest fan of tea."

"Pass on anything made by you," Shaw retorts. "What are you doing here?"

She knows, obviously, but she'd still like to hear how Control answers the question.

[ He takes a moment to scrub at his face. ]

Okay...okay, yeah.

...you know, most of my plans included me being here to help. I can't tell if he's about to get violent if I'm not here.

[ He lets out a sigh that's more emotionally exhausted than anything else. ]

...sure. In order to see them, you'll have to have an empathy condition, though, because Hannibal's excellent at hiding his intentions from everyone who doesn't.

Seriously. He doesn't have a method or a ritual, like most killers. He doesn't take trophies if it's inconvenient, he can be tender and careful while he's simultaneously ripping your guts out. There are no warning signs. He knows there's no point to hiding here, so there won't even be a 'reveal' moment for him to enjoy.

[ He lets out a frustrated grunt, and then a sigh, and then he starts thinking. ]

I guess...if it feels like he's trying to push you in a certain direction, then maybe that's something. But he's extremely good at reading and manipulating people, and I sincerely doubt he'd be so sloppy as to make that noticeable.

Why don't I just go ahead and assume he's ready to get violent all the time. Better safe than sorry, right?

...god, this has to be the most obnoxious way for this to happen, too. Hannibal couldn't have planned it better himself.
