But, perhaps, if talking to someone else who doesn't think surveillance isn't the way to go, just stop at 'I think it's important to keep an eye on someone who's just murdered someone'. A simple statement of fact, and you can agree or disagree if someone else puts forth an idea about what to do instead. If they make any personal comment, it's on them.

If you comment on their character, then they can take it as an excuse not to listen.
