[Idly, she runs a foot up and down Root's leg, looking up at the loft area.]

You know, this is the first time I've really lived with somebody? A partner, I mean.

Mm? Me too. Actually, this is the first time I've had a place of my own.

[ Her mother's house doesn't count. That was always just temporary. ]

It's really nice.

I had an actual apartment before I was dead.

[Before the ISA tried to kill her and Reese and Harold faked her death, she means.]

That's what you based this cabin on?

[ Which now looks nice! ]

I would just crash somewhere convenient and move on when I finished a job.

This cabin was based on the one I lived in for a while after that. The place you broke into that time.

[The hovel she'd lived in between fake dying, and needing to become Sameen Gray after Samaritan came online.]

The one I had as myself was nicer. Still not much in the way of decoration, but, uh-- no cinderblock walls, you know?

Good to know that wasn't a preference!

[ She worries about you, babe. ]

We should get a whole new place when we get out of here. Start fresh. Furnish and decorate it from the ground up.

I still think most of the decorating is gonna be on you.

[Shaw says, dryly but fondly.]

Do you wanna stay in the city?

That's a relief.

[ She teases because she loves. ]

I think so. More to do. Easier to play hide and seek. Small town life isn't really for me.

Me, neither. Gotta have that hustle and bustle. And you're probably going to be traveling a lot, right?

[She can't imagine that Root is going to want to stop running mysterious missions for the Machine.]

[themostfun]

Hmm. [ Now and then, as she keeps stroking Shaw's scalp, Root uses her nails. ] If the Machine survives, then... yes. I'd want to keep doing what She asks me to.

I'd never ask you to stop. Just send me a lot of postcards, or bring me with you sometimes.

[themostfun]

She's probably going to have to tell me when you absolutely can't come with me.

[ Juggling two people's lives complicates things, and the Machine is nothing if not dedicated to protecting Her people. ]

We should get a dog of our own.

Already halfway there; I'm thinking about stealing Jet.

Isn't theft bad? i wouldn't want you to get in any trouble.

[Shaw says, muffling a little grin against Root's shoulder.]

I can do whatever I want. We're all about doing whatever we want without rules here.

[ Root snickers. ]

Sounds like I'll need to keep a really close eye on you.

Mmmm, I'm a power-mad dictator.

[A power-mad dictator who's kissing Root's neck.]

I'm gonna have to stage a coup.

[ These authoritarian acts are just unbearable. How can Shaw expect Root to just lie back and take it?

Root strokes Shaw's scalp with her nails. ]

Dictators can't just be allowed to run free.

You're gonna have to punish me by giving me a nice rug and a bigger bed.

[Horror of horrors.]

A huge bed, so we can share it with the dog.

[ Root grips Shaw's hair and pulls her head up. She holds her there for a second before leaning up to kiss her. ]

I kinda like the loft, though...

[What a conundrum. She'll just have to think about it while leisurely kissing Root.]

What about a big couch. Next to the windows.

[Like their couch in this cabin right here. She really likes the way Root set everything up, okay.]

I can work with that.

[ It is a nice setup. What with the cushions on the floor today, it's more comfortable to be under the loft. Root pushes Shaw onto her back, following along so she's lying atop her. ]

What else?

[She asks, closing her eyes and arching her chest up against Root.]

A home gym.

[themostfun]

Yes. [ To both the home gym and that delicious skin to skin contact. ]

Quality cookware. More fairy lights.

[ Root hooks a thumb through a loop on Shaw's pants. ]
