[Hope she's open for company, because there's suddenly a purple turtle dropping down beside her while she's out and about, maybe off to investigate the crime scene?]
[It's not lost on Shaw that her career, since leaving med school, has been on a steady trajectory of diminishing stakes (the whole AI war aside). She'd started out preventing world-altering arms deals and terrorist attacks. After that job had imploded, she'd worked to prevent one-on-one crime between individuals - and while she'd come around to seeing the value in that sort of micro-level work, there's no denying that it had objectively been on a much smaller scale.
And now here she is, looking into the cases of a guy who had been stabbed but had lived, and another guy who'd been beaten up a little. She guesses there's probably value to be found in this, too, if you learn to look at it the right way. Unfortunately, she hasn't yet.
But she is really, really bored.]
You mean about the guy who got his ass kicked?
[She asks, slowing a little as she walks in the direction of town.]
Nada. If this is what passes for violent crime here, I say we're doing pretty good, but it's probably still worth figuring out who's being a punk.
Oh, absolutely, but that someone's even pulling this kind of crap at all then that means someone's got waaay too much time on their hands and there's only so many people here. Although admittedly there are a lot of capable people, but I don't think we want to wait and see if whoever this is screws up by going after the wrong person.
[Donnie folds his arms as he walks alongside her, absently scratching at the faint scar just below his shoulder.]
Someone else said they'd been attacked right when they arrived, really insistent that it had been here and not before he got here, but I wasn't sure how solid his judgment was if he was suffering from blood loss at the time. And saying something over the network without any real evidence hadn't seemed like a great idea then...
Yeah, Stu. Ran into him at the hospital some time after he'd gotten stitched up. Guy couldn't sit still though, so he ended up pulling some of them out.
I'm not great at this kind of investigation even for the big stuff, but, uh-- if we don't have anything else to go on, I'm thinking we should look at the targets. Can you think of any ties between Macher and Tozier?
Not particularly. I've only talked to Richie like, once.
Have you scoped out the scene of the crime? Leo and I traced the comm signal that was used to contact Richie- someone had to have the Communications data point because they'd switched the ID temporarily to say "Unknown."
Isn't that what they do on police shows? Investigate the scene of the crime? I don't know how professional these people are- if we're talking about different party involvement, but it's at least clear that they've done this before.
Waylaying it is!
So, got any leads?
yooooo

[Now she stops dead, turning to face Donnie.]
Macher? Yeah, I talked to him and his friend. Stabbed, right?

Yeah, Stu. Ran into him at the hospital some time after he'd gotten stitched up. Guy couldn't sit still though, so he ended up pulling some of them out.

[ She mutters, with the vague, unspoken assumption that Donnie isn't included in the gripe. ]
Stabbing to pummeling's kind of a downgrade. I'm thinking we could be looking at two different assholes.
no subject
Yeah? So we potentially could have two problems? Greeeeat.

You think there's gonna be much evidence left behind after a punching?

[Donnie makes a face shortly after, clearly not all too sure how much evidence they'd be able to find.]

I guess it doesn't hurt to check?
